Auction items may be viewed by appointment only at the Roanoke County Schools Transportation Dept, which is located at 701 South Market Street Salem, Va.24153.  Please call 540-387-6583 to schedule an appointment.  Appointments may be scheduled from 07:00AM to2:00 PM Monday through Friday.

INFORMATION FOR WINNING BIDDERS

  • Auctions may be scheduled for pick-up from 07:00 AM to 2:00 PM Monday through Friday.  Please call 540-314-0843 to schedule an appointment.
  • Buyer shall pay for and pick items up within five (5) business days of notification of award.
  • The winning bidder will be responsible for packing, and/or loading any item(s) at pick-up.  Non-operational vehicles must be towed. 
  • No maintenance whatsoever will be allowed on County property other than installation of a new battery. 
  • We do not provide temporary tags.
  • If someone other than the bidder is picking up the Auction, please email a letter of authorization from the winning bidder's email account to wspradlin@rcps.us. Letter must include the winning bidder's name, auction number, and the third party's name. Also will need the notice of award and paid receipt.  Please also include a copy of YOUR (winning bidder) driver's license. The third party must show their driver's license at the time of pick up.  We WILL NOT release anything until we receive this information. 


Vehicle maintenance records will not be provided.

Roanoke County Public Schools may require a bid deposit.

PayMac handles all payments for Roanoke County Public Schools.

Acceptable forms of payment are: Wire Transfer or Credit Card.
NO CASH, CHECKS, OR MONEY ORDERS WILL BE ACCEPTED!

Payment for an awarded item must be received within five (5) business days after notice of award.

Roanoke County Public Schools will charge a sales tax of 8%. The tax rate will be calculated at the time of bidding. When sales tax is included, the buyer shall add and include the sales tax amount when making payment. Unless you have provided a valid tax-exempt certificate to RCPS prior to making payment.

A Buyers Premium of 10% will be added to the final sale price with a $1 minimum charge per auction for payment collections.

All sales are final.

Public Surplus will notify buyer of receipt of payment via email.

The successful bidder will be responsible for pick-up of item(s) from the agency's premises. Pick-up must occur within ten (10) business days after notification of award. The notice of award, payment receipt, and personal identification must be presented at time of pick-up, or the item will not be released.
